Well friends, as I type these very words, the timber harvest is underway at Cady Hill Forest. Thanks to the hard work of foresters Allan Thompson and Rick Dyer, as well as Town Planner Tom Jackman and Stowe Land Trust Program Manager Kristen Sharpless, a forest management plan is officially in place to guide the recovery efforts and we’re rollin’. Our friends at the Golden Eagle Resort stepped up big time, allowing the loggers to use their property to stage the northern recovery effort. You guys rock. Read on for some more good news… Cady Hill Fun-Raisers (see what we did there?)As you may have seen, this recovery effort is going to cost a few bucks. You can contribute this holiday season in three easy steps:
1. Wednesday December 13th hit up the Mountain Road Marketplace for some local holiday goods; a portion of all sales will come right back to the Cady Hill recovery effort. 2. After knocking out your holiday shopping, head over to Charlie B’s at the Stoweflake Resort for some food, drink specials and live music. And once more, a portion of the proceeds will go right back to rebuilding Cady Hill. 3. Then on Thursday 12/21, join us at Piecasso for a few winter-flavored flicks, some pie and a brew. A portion of that night’s pizza sales goes to…that’s right, the Cady Hill recovery efforts. Uberwintern: Das Fatbike Festival!!
Hosted by the mountain bike think tank we call MTBVT.com, in collaboration with von Trapp Brewing / Trapp Family Lodge (purveyors of the world’s finest lagers), Uberwintern 2018 is going to be bigger and badder than ever. This year’s “Save Cady Hill” edition of everyone’s favorite one-day fatbike festival will once again be based out of Sushi Yoshi in Stowe, with the von Trapp Brewing Bierhall serving as our aid station. Head over to the Uberwintern event page for more info and to register. Need a place to crash for the weekend? Golden Eagle is hooking it up: follow this link, then use promo code SNOBIKE for a killer deal. Poster courtesy Ryan Thibault / MTBVT.com. Damn Right. In Closing…We’re Gonna Be A-OKThe outpouring of support from the Stowe community has been, in a word, staggering. It’s testament to the hard work everyone has put into these trails over the years, and the value they hold within this Town. Now go tune up your board, your fatbike, your snowblower, or any combination thereof, and get ready for a great winter.
