STP TRAILS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR MUD SEASON, WITH NO SET OPENING DATE AT THIS POINT. THE OPENING DATE WILL BE DETERMINED BY TRAILS DRYING OUT AND GOVERNOR SCOTT’S DIRECTIVES.
Currently, the trails are closed, but once they open, please follow these COVID-19 trail guidelines to keep yourself and others safe while recreating. Once the trails are open for the season, STP believes that getting out on the trails is tremendously valuable. Trails bring us together and help ground us, but to keep each other safe, we must keep our distance. How can our community navigate this challenge?
First and foremost, refer to FPR’s outdoor recreation directive on how to stay safe outdoors. Then, as appropriate, cautiously take advantage of trails and outdoor spaces near your home, unless you are feeling ill. We will all benefit from the fresh air.
HOW CAN TRAIL USERS RECREATE DURING COVID-19? Recreate locally: walk on your street or a local wood lot as opposed to hopping in the car to visit a favorite spot. If you must drive someplace, please limit the distance from home to ten miles, and only drive with members of your household. Avoid recreation hot spots. If you show up to your local park and the lot is full you should go somewhere else.
HOW CAN TRAIL USERS BE RESPONSIBLE & SAFE WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING? It’s a great time for community education on responsible riding and recreating, and for being patient, exemplary stewards. Stay alert, slow down, and communicate with each other from a distance about how to proceed. With gyms and rec centers closing, there may be new users on the trails.
HOW CAN TRAIL USERS CAN ENGAGE IN LOW-RISK ACTIVITIES? We all try to push our limits when exercising, however now is not the time. Use the trails more conservatively so you don’t risk a visit to the emergency room where the attention of doctors and nurses should be for caring for those impacted by COVID-19.
